One week in paradise with the one man I can't resist...
Will Cassidy is hot, infuriating, and the guy behind the biggest heart-stomping humiliation of my life. He's also hosting my BFF's destination wedding at his super-luxe tropical resort, so short of a hurricane or outbreak of the plague (here's hoping), I'm stuck within t̶o̶n̶g̶u̶e̶'s̶ arm's reach of him for the next seven days.
But I'm not a naive college girl anymore, and there's no way I'm falling for his (many) charms again. I just have to ignore the romantic wedding shenanigans, his miraculous abs, all those intimate beach sunsets... And did I mention those abs?
Maybe a wild vacation fling is exactly what I need to even the score... But between the scorching chemistry and all-inclusive margaritas, I'm getting drunk on love. Which definitely isn't part of the plan.
Can I keep my heart zipped - even if my bikini bottoms are lost somewhere on that nude beach? And how do you let go of the past when you're holding on tight to the past's (very ripped) torso?
Find out in the sexy, hilarious new romantic comedy from Lila Monroe!
I picked-up Lila Monroe’s Lovestruck on a day of longing for the sun, beach, and a strong margarita. I needed to ‘get-away’ to somewhere warm and sunny for a few hours to escape a particularly cloudy and dreary Minneapolis day. Overall this was a no-fuss, no frills romantic comedy that cut straight to the chase (and much-desired beach)
Lovestruck is a humorous second-chance romance focusing on PR rep Ruby Walters and hot hotel magnet, Will Cassidy. Ruby and Will were college enemies turned best friends until Ruby fell hard and Will left her heart shattered on the frat room floor. Ruby hadn’t heard from him in years until she discovers he owns the Puerto Vallarta hotel her best friend is getting married in – plus he’s in the wedding! Will and Ruby fall back into old habits (and each other’s beds) while putting off inevitable conversations of what happens once they get back to reality.
Romance aside (because the book blurb is fairly spoiler-y), I absolutely loved Ruby. Ruby is a 28-year old Star Trec nerd who owns an L.A. PR business catering to tween YouTube sensations. Forward thinking by nature, she capitalized on this emerging market made a name for herself. Once again score one for another rockin’ boss lady in romance! Despite being freaked and flustered over Will waltzing back into her life, she emits a breezy confidence that had my rarely seen inner cheerleader screaming “you go girl!” (There is a particular scene where Ruby takes charge during an afternoon hike and – YES YES YES!)
I also found myself similarly infatuated with Brook – Ruby’s bride-to-be best friend. I’d add her to my Girl Squad if I had one (and I won’t). She’s practical and level-headed, giving Ruby an honest yet harsh dose of reality when she freaks out over Will. There was a particular Ruby/Brook exchange that really hit-home for the types of advice I wish my friends would have given me during some of my more unfortunate dating incidents:
For starters, I think you’re stronger than that. No one’s going to crush you.
I read a lot of romance and wow – really wish there were more friends like that in books. It’s a dose of reality and something that needs to be remembered in general – you’re always stronger than you think.
*Oh yeah. WIll was cool too. But we see a lot of perfect, Hotel Empire, alpha males roaming around in books so …. Yea. Use your imagination. I’m all about the girl power for this one.
This is a short read, clocking in at 200 pages but wasn’t soo short that I felt short changed. Lovestruck delivered on its Romantic Comedy promise and I’ll keep Lila Monroe in mind for next time I’m craving looking for a quick and fun read. Very enjoyable and highly recommend for the next time you need a three-hour vacation to the beach!
