Sunday Synopsis #11: Get Ready for Turkey!

Linking up to The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at the Caffeinated Book Reviewer – a weekly meme where fellow book lovers post updates on life, blog happenings, and their recent book hauls.

The Holiday season is looming and for once, it’s nice to say that we enjoyed a QUIET week without too much excitement because 2018 is going to be here before we know it!  Next week starts the mad dash from family-to-family for Thanksgivings – we have three Turkey Days next weekend alone. We’re also hosting my family for brunch to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade – I love watching all the performers and big balloons!

Last night was the warm-up Thanksgiving as we attended our first Friendsgiving of the season.  We had a little too much fun (accompanied by a little too much wine!), but feeling extra thankful this morning for our Family-by-Choice.  Happy Thanksgiving to all of my U.S.-based Blogging Buddies!

Lately on the Blog:

Lots of late nights in the office last week catching up on the work I missed while on vacation, so I didn’t get much of a chance for Blog Hopping or Reading.  In fact, I think I’m out of scheduled posts or books to review – guess I know what I’m doing today!

Read this Week:

I enjoyed the first two books of Meghan March’s Mount trilogy.  Both books were good (solid 3.5 star reads), but short enough that I’ll wait to write a review until the last book is released in December.  Looking forward to diving into Christmas reads after Thanksgiving!

New to the Bookish Library:

Very small book haul this week with only two new books (kind of proud!).  I have a feeling I’ll be picking up a few Holiday books for Thanksgiving travels – let me know if you have any can’t miss recommendations!

  1. Have a great Thanksgiving (or three)! I can’t wait either, that feast is already calling to me! Oh and the Macy’s parade- we always watch it too, so fun.

    Have a super week.

Thanks, Greg! And a very merry Thanksgiving to you too! Cruising the recipe sites tonight trying to plot out the perfect Thanksgiving feast 🙂

Happy Thanksgiving to you too, Renee! Hope you find lots of time for rest and relaxation…. and a little reading too 😉 🙂 <3

The beginning of the parade is my favorite part 🙂 I always get a little teary-eyed when they do the kick-off and I love seeing the Rockettes for the pre-show! Happy Thanksgiving!

Tell me about it! I love my family, but three days of the exact same meal…. and then coming home to leftovers? I don’t think I’ll be able to fit through the door 😉

I finished it last night and it was soooo good! Part of the book takes place in Bora Bora and was a great escape now that it’s getting colder 🙂 Have you read the first book (Shacking-Up) yet? Hooking up was a standalone, but still recommend reading the first book – lots of character cross-over 🙂

You were in the parade!?! That’s an ultimate bucket list item of mine – they had tap dancing Christmas trees a few years ago and I think I missed my calling 🙂 Gotta’ ask – what did you do in the parade? (So jealous!) Happy Thanksgiving, Samantha!

  2. I love Friendsgivings! I’ve been seeing a lot of them this year being shared on social media. All of my friends have kids or are the people I work with, so they celebrate with their own families, but I think it would be cool to have one.

Friendsgivings are great! Most everyone who hosts uses it as an excuse to get their house ready for family and then everyone brings a dish pot-luck style. Usually, we eat so many apps that we don’t even make it to Turkey – one of our friends next week is just doing a breakfast theme instead 🙂 We actually did a work/friends giving in the office breakroom last week as well 🙂 Hope you had a great Thanksgiving, Charlie!
