Sunday Synopsis #9: Leaving on a Jet Plane!

Linking up to The Sunday Post hosted by Kim at the Caffeinated Book Reviewer – a weekly meme where fellow book lovers post updates on life, blog happenings, and their recent book hauls.

Frantically trying to get the suitcases packed and blog ready for our big vacation to the Big Island of Hawaii later this week!  They Hubby and I will be spending two days exploring the volcanos in Volcano and then on to five days at Waikoloa beach.  Most of the week has been us in “prep” mode, but here are a few of the more entertaining highlights:

  • Woof Dah! Sir Isaac Newton had his annual dentist exam. It was super entertaining watching him stumble around the house like a drunk, fuzzy human for a day. However, the after effects on his stomach have left something to be desired.
  • The first snow of the season arrived in Minneapolis last Friday.  Everyone forgot how to drive like humans, despite nothing actually sticking to the roads.
  • I received a chance at Pumpkin Carving redemption whilst at a Halloween bonfire this weekend. Please note the incredible viciousness of my haunted tree, which will proceed to eat the other pumpkins if they keep calling him a mutant spider.

Lately on the Blog:

Read this Week:

I’ve been devouring Lexi Blake’s Thieves series about a professional thief and her crew of paranormal accomplices.  You can check out my review of the first book here.

(almost) New to the Bookish Library:

Two more days until my self-imposed Book Buying ban is complete, just in time to treat myself to a few new books for my birthday.  Here are a few of the reads I plan on picking-up for vacation:

Thanks Geybie, and of course I’ll share pictures! 🙂 I love reading travel blogs so might do a “Friday Funday” feature and do a trip report when I get back. We’re allowed to blog about more than just books, right? 😉

  1. Ooo a vacation to Hawaii? That sounds incredible! I hope you have a great time. I also can’t believe you already got snow. I’m in Northeast PA, where early winter weather is common, but we haven’t had much more than some chilly temps and rain. I’m hoping it stays that way lol Tangled Up in Tinsel looks great! I’ve been in a major holiday book mood lately so I’ll be curious to see your review. Have a great week! 🙂

I’d imagine Northeast, PA would be somewhat similar to Minneapolis… but don’t you get those HUGE snowstorms?!? We’re actually too cold to get a lot of snow and we don’t get the crazy (lake? water?) effects that the North East does. I’m getting all geared-up for Holiday books and am super excited to for Kim’s HoHoHo Readathon next week…. I’ll be trying to get a few reads in while on vacation! 🙂

  2. So envious of your Hawaii trip! Trip preparations can be so frantic and stressful but it’s always worth it in the end. Snow already?! Oh my gosh, that’s so hard to imagine. It’s in the 60’s here but will be back up to 80 by the weekend. Fall in Florida! *sigh* Love your scary spider… er, haunted tree. 😉 I feel like I’ve been seeing Cuffed by Bromberg everywhere already. Hooray for the end of the book buying ban! I have never done such a horrible thing to myself. LOL

Lol – why is no one afraid of my scary tree!?! 🙂 Two weeks ago I started carving a pumpkin only to realize it was completely rotted out inside, so it was more gross-scary than actually scary. Florida fall sounds so lovely – I was talking to a friend from Tampa earlier today and she was talking about an outdoor Halloween party she hosted last weekend… would never happen up here! We’re always trying to figure out costumes that would look good with snow pants!! Hope you have a great week, Tanya! 🙂

Thanks, Barb! There has been QUITE a bit of Pumpkin drama this year, so glad this one turned out (although he lost a branch in an unfortunate incident with the dog this morning). I will never understand why it’s so complicated for people to drive in the snow – just gotta be smart and keep an eye out for the people around you…. and don’t leave the house if you don’t have too! 🙂

Thanks, Renee! Saw your review on Ruthless King last week so am picking it up for the long flight over 🙂 I’ve read one or two of her books before, but the distillery angle sounded interesting! Also really excited to get back into Holiday reads (plus I really love wine) so I’m sure Tangled Up In Tinsel will be just perfect for me <3
